Netizens have taken to social media to bash Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo on her stance for cosmetic surgery and Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), despite the tragic death of Elena Jessica, a Nigerian lady who went under the knife and died from complications following the botched BBL procedure.
Ogbodo recently addressed the backlash in a video, expressing heartbreak over the passing of Jessica, stating that people tagged her, questioning her promotion of BBL. Ogbodo emphasised that while BBL carries risks like any surgery, including fibroid operations, C-sections, or even headaches, it’s not inherently bad.

She urged women to research thoroughly, choose qualified surgeons, and go to reputable hospitals to minimise dangers, adding that life is unpredictable and one must weigh risks for personal rewards like confidence.
The deceased, Elena Jessica, was a young Nigerian socialite who underwent her second BBL at Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in Ikoyi, Lagos, around early February 2026.
Post-surgery, she developed severe complications, including infection, abdominal pain, and sepsis, leading to multiple emergency operations. Her sister publicly mourned, alleging abandonment by the clinic during critical aftercare, sparking calls for justice and renewed warnings about BBL dangers from figures like Aproko Doctor.
