Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P of the iconic P-Square duo, has addressed criticism over his perceived silence on pressing national issues, including the escalating cost of living in Nigeria.
In a viral X exchange, a user questioned why Mr P wasn’t speaking out amid widespread hardship. The conversation began with Mr P humorously posting about “Enjoyment wan kill me for Abuja”. This prompted replies tagging him and others, with one user implying his focus on enjoyment while ignoring the ongoing struggles in the country.

In response, Mr P clarified his stance, firmly stating that he had already played his role in past activism, from supporting the last election to actively participating in the #EndSARS movement.
He emphasised that he risked a lot during those times, but now chooses to prioritise his personal life and family. “I’ve already played my part… At this point, I’m choosing to focus on my life and my family,” he wrote.
He added that everyone has their own role to play in society.

Fans and critics continue to debate celebrities’ responsibility in addressing socio-economic challenges amid Nigeria’s ongoing economic pressures, where many citizens grapple with inflation and hardship.
