Nigerian music superstar Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has stirred reactions online after appearing to take a subtle jab at his colleague and longtime friend, Burna Boy.
The drama began when a video of Burna Boy whose real name is Damini Ogulu surfaced online. In the clip, the Grammy-winning artist was asked to share a motivational quote and said:
“No matter how short you are, when you go outside, you’d see the sun.”
Many social media users interpreted Burna’s comment as a playful dig at Wizkid.
Shortly after the video went viral, Wizkid took to his Snapchat and posted a cryptic message that seemed like a response:
“Lion dey chop wild animal. Gorilla dey chop banana. E get why.”

The post quickly reignited rumors of tension between the two stars. Notably, Burna Boy once referred to himself as a “gorilla” in 2021, explaining that his chest-beating habit reflects his nature, not arrogance.
Following Wizkid’s post, fans flooded social media with mixed reactions. Some accused both artists of throwing shade at each other, while others expressed disappointment over their strained friendship.
One fan wrote: “So nobody fit close eye do me 3m?”
Another commented: “Wizkid wan dey beef everybody??? 😂😂 Which kind Wizkid be this???”
A different user added: “Burna Boy too dey jealous.”
