Imisi wins Big Brother Naija 2025

Imisi wins Big Brother Naija 2025

The tenth edition of the most-watched Nigerian reality show, Big Brother Naija, came to a conclusion on Sunday, October 5.

Imisi, the official comedian of this edition, emerged successful. From the commencement of the edition, she was tipped to come out on top in the end; eventually, she did.

24 hours after the fanfare, social media users, commentators, and pundits think that the show has reached its peak and should be discontinued with immediate effect.

It would be recalled that the show started in 2006; however, the show would go on a decade-long recess before it was restarted in 2017. The new Big Brother Naija format became more popular with Nigerians in 2018 and attained a new milestone in 2019 when Mercy Eke was crowned the first female winner of the reality show.

Several fans of the reality show still dub the 2019 edition the best due to the coterie of contestants that appeared on the show. The eventual winner, Mercy Eke, was in a relationship with fellow contestant, Ike Onyema, at the time, and their relationship was one of the most fascinating in the competition’s history. Further, the season saw the rise of the controversial contestant, Tacha Akide; other notable contestants in that edition are Mike Edwards, Omashola, Elozonam, Venita Akpofure, among several others.

In 2020, during the Coronavirus lockdown, several Nigerians were at home; hence, the Lockdown edition was thoroughly followed by Nigerians and those across the globe.

Several other editions have come and gone, and one statement from netizens has remained the same: “Big Brother Naija organizers should wrap it up.”

BBNaija: Is it Time to Wrap it Up?

This is the decision of the show organisers to make. It is the role of the organizers to provide entertainment and value for the viewers, while it is the role of the viewers to choose to either watch the program or turn a blind eye to the television (or, in recent times, mute the conversation on their various social media platforms). To each is their own; therefore, the organisers can either choose to desist from making an eleventh edition or they could focus on other endeavours. The option is exclusive to those in the upper echelon of business affairs and strategies in promoting Big Brother Naija.

It is important to note that only an opinion can be shared pertaining to this development, as the author of this article cannot enforce what Big Brother Naija organizers should do. Perhaps Big Brother Naija reached its peak on Sunday night, and it is time for the organizers to create a new program or risk becoming dishearteningly obsolete.

Once again, the question must be asked: has Big Brother Naija reached its peak? Is it time to wrap it up?

Let’s see what 2026 has to offer. In the meantime, we must endeavour to appreciate Imisi for emerging successful and achieving an incredible milestone.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the argument of several BBNaija critics is that the show has lost its relevance. Some stated that the show holds little to no value as it only promotes promiscuity, lasciviousness, and vanity. They further argued that the show doesn’t educate or propel the intelligence of viewers; instead, it only showcases crass behaviour and questionable segments on national television.

It would be recalled that Big Brother Naija was established to actually be a social experiment. After ten editions, perhaps, the message has been gotten by Nigerians, and they want to simply move on from it. In the end, good things must come to an end; this is the principle of everything in life.
