Nigerian music sensation Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, may be a global Afrobeats icon today, but his journey to stardom is rooted in grit, hustle, and unwavering dedication.
His childhood friend, N6 a media personality and rapper, recently shared heartfelt memories of their early days in Surulere, Lagos, offering fans a rare glimpse into Wizkid’s humble beginnings.

According to N6, he and Wizkid first bonded over football and music as teenagers. The duo became regulars at the famed OJB Jezreel’s studio, which served as a launchpad for many Nigerian stars including 2Baba.
Wizkid, even then, stood out with his relentless drive and talent. He was known to hustle for features, charging between ₦10,000 and ₦20,000 for hooks.
