Nigerian celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has been spotted preparing a test batch of jollof rice in a massive custom-built pot.
The video, which has been widely shared online, shows Baci surrounded by helpers and spectators as she works on perfecting her recipe.

Baci is gearing up to attempt the Guinness World Record for cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice. The official event is scheduled to take place on September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park in Lagos, as part of the Gino World Jollof Festival. The festival promises to be a celebration of West African food, music, and culture, with live performances and free attendance.

The pot Baci is using for the record attempt measures six meters wide and six meters tall. According to Baci, the project is more than just a record attempt; it’s about sharing jollof rice with others. “What is jollof without you to share it with?” she wrote in a recent Instagram post.
With her previous Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, Baci is confident in her ability to break records once again. The Gino World Jollof Festival promises to be an exciting event, showcasing the best of West African culture and cuisine.
