Celebrity chef Hilda Baci has revealed the future of the giant pot that helped her set a new Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, weighing 8,780 kilograms.
Despite receiving numerous offers, Baci has decided that the massive cookware will neither be sold nor auctioned. Instead, she plans to restore it to its original condition and display it in a public space, potentially a museum, where it can be admired by many.

To Baci, the pot represents more than just a cooking vessel; it’s a symbol of history, faith, and innovation. The painstaking process of designing and assembling the pot makes it too precious to let go. “Trust me, so many people have asked about that pot. Some want to buy it, some suggest we should auction it. But we’re not going to sell it. We want as many people as possible to see it in all its glory,” she said.
This achievement marks Baci’s second Guinness World Record, following her 2023 cook-a-thon where she cooked non-stop for over 100 hours, earning global recognition and solidifying her status as a culinary icon. The recent record-breaking event, held on September 12, 2025, at Victoria Island, Lagos, attracted a huge crowd, including prominent figures like Funke Akindele and Ogun State First Lady, Bamidele Abiodun.
By making the pot publicly accessible, she hopes to inspire future generations and show the country’s rich culinary heritage. The giant pot, designed specifically for the challenge, has a capacity of 22,619 liters and required 200 bags of rice and 1,583 kilograms of tomato paste to achieve the record-breaking feat.
