American actor and Hollywood star, Robert Duvall, who played the smooth mafia lawyer in “The Godfather” and stole the show with his depiction of a surfing-crazed colonel in “Apocalypse Now,” has passed away at the age of 95.
The late actor’s wife, Luciana Duvall announced the sad news in a statement on his Facebook page on Monday.
Sharing a picture of herself and Robert, she disclosed that he “passed away peacefully” at home on Sunday, praising his love for his craft and appreciated those who showed him support all through his career.

“Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time. Bob passed away peacefully at home To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller,” she wrote.
“To me, he was simply everything. His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court. For each of his many roles, Bob gave everything to his characters and to the truth of the human spirit they represented.
“In doing so, he leaves something lasting and unforgettable to us all. Thank you for the years of support you showed Bob and for giving us this time and privacy to celebrate the memories he leaves behind.”
Robert was a famous actor, director, and producer with a career that spanned more than sixty years.
Duvall graduated from the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York, where he trained with classmates like Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman.
He started acting on stage and television in the late 1950s, then became well known for his first film role as Boo Radley in ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’.
Duvall became famous worldwide for playing Tom Hagen in ‘The Godfather’ and its sequel. He later won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as Mac Sledge, a country singer, in ‘Tender Mercies’.
Some of his other well-known films are ‘Apocalypse Now’, ‘The Great Santini’, and ‘Lonesome Dove’.
