Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has once again ignited debate on social media after making sweeping claims about some of the country’s biggest music stars, including Wizkid, Olamide, Davido and Burna Boy.
In a statement that has since circulated widely online, Portable alleged that the four artists have remained at the top of the industry for more than a decade and are deliberately blocking opportunities for emerging talents.
According to him, their prolonged dominance has made it difficult for new musicians to break through and gain visibility on the mainstream stage.

The singer went further by accusing the superstars of exaggerating their wealth and achievements. He claimed that they sometimes make public statements about purchasing extremely expensive jewellery, such as chains reportedly worth billions of dollars, when, in his view, such items may have been gifted rather than bought outright.

Several commentators also pointed out that claims of industry gatekeeping and financial misrepresentation are difficult to verify without concrete evidence. Others accused Portable of seeking attention through controversy, a tactic he has been associated with in the past.
