A yet-to-be-identified male fan has gone viral after catching the attention of Afrobeat star and Grammy-nominated singer Asake in a rather unique way.
In a trending video, Asake was seen making his way to a show abroad when a fan attempted to take a picture but was initially brushed aside. Not giving up, the fan quickly called out in Yoruba: “Asake, omo Yoruba le mi o” which translates to ”Asake, I’m a Yoruba child.”

The statement instantly struck a chord with the singer, who turned around and warmly posed for a picture with him.
The clip has since sparked mixed reactions online, with many netizens applauding the fan’s creativity.
One user wrote: “Yoruba is such a unique language ❤️. Even people from other tribes love saying ‘Omo iyami.’”
Another added: “Na that ‘omo iya mi’ make Asake give him attention.”
A third person joked: “You can’t say ‘omo iya mi’ to a Yoruba man and he won’t look at you… he might even give you his kidney sef.”
