The CEO, noted that victory depends solely on peer votes from U.S.-based music professionals while explaining that factors like streams, sales, fanbase size, or social media buzz play no role in determining winners. Instead, the awards are decided by Academy members evaluating submissions purely on artistic merit and quality.

“The only way to win a Grammy is to have the membership of the Academy vote for you,” Mason Jr. stated. “It’s not the sales, not the streams… purely on the opinion of the membership.”
