The Nigerian social media space has been taken over by a hilarious Ajo trend, with celebrities and content creators playfully demanding their “contributions” from Woli Arole and gospel singer Ola Best.
The trend, however, was inspired by an actual dispute involving the two entertainers.
The controversy began after Woli Arole publicly called out Ola Best over an Ajo arrangement that reportedly started in January.
Arole said he was scheduled to receive the group’s contribution for August but could no longer reach Ola Best, whom he identified as the person handling the arrangement.
Arole also raised concerns after seeing a WhatsApp status indicating that Ola Best had travelled to Canada. Actor Sanusi Izihaq, popularly known as Apa, subsequently joined the conversation, saying Arole was the person who introduced him to the monthly thrift arrangement.

Ola Best later responded, confirming that he had travelled to Canada but denying that he had abandoned the contributors. He said he had only arrived in the country two days earlier, had been granted a two-year visa and appealed to Arole to give him time to settle and pay the money.
What started as a financial disagreement soon became comedy content, as entertainers began recreating the situation by jokingly demanding their own Ajo money.
Woli Arole himself later acknowledged the trend, describing the Ajo matter as an example of how clean content can gain attention online.
The incident has since transformed from a private Ajo dispute into one of Instagram’s latest viral entertainment trends.
