Controversial Nollywood actor, Uche Maduagwu has taken to social media to mourn the death of his cousin, and a staff of ARISE NEWS, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, who was killed during an armed robbery at her residence in Katampe, Abuja.
eelive.ng learnt that ARISE News in a statement signed by Hadiza Usman-Ajayi on behalf of management announced Maduagwu’s death on Monday evening, revealing that she was a vibrant voice who engaged and connected with their viewers.
The statement reads: “Sommie was not only a cherished member of the ARISE News family but also a vibrant voice that engaged and connected with our viewers.
“We extend our deepest condolences to her parents, siblings, extended family, friends, and loved ones at this difficult time.
“Her voice is now silent, but her spirit, passion and legacy will endure as part of our collective memory. We remain in shock and call for a speedy investigation, apprehension, and prosecution of the culprits.”

In response to her tragic death, the actor criticised President Bola Tinubu on his social media page for failing to address the rising insecurity in the country. He questioned the president’s capability to safeguard the nation while the Federal Capital Territory(FCT) suffers from significant insecurity.
In his words: “Tinubu, if you are not a useless President, my Cousin will still be alive today. 😭😭😭 I was #Happy when me and Somtochukwu Maduagwu connected back again in 2021, after she sent me a message, I’m still in Sh*ck.
“A president that can not even Guarantee the secur*ty of Nigerians in #ABUJA how can he guarantee our safety in the whole Nigeria? Which independence day are we celebrating Biko? Are we independent from insecur*ty inside Abuja not to talk of Nigeria.”
