Nigerian recording artiste Spyro has said he is an Afrobeats musician and a Christian.
The renowned Nigerian singer-songwriter made this known in a recent interview with Wazobia FM. Speaking in pidgin, the ‘Who is your guy?’ crooner mentioned that he identifies as a Christian who uses Afrobeats music as a tool to propagate positivity and inspire his audience.

Speaking with the comedian and radio host, Yaw, the singer-songwriter was asked if he was a secular artiste or a Christian musician due to the theme of his songs and his approach to creating music for his audience. Responding, Spyro said he is a Christian who makes gospel music; hence, he doesn’t want to be pigeonholed into the ‘Christian music’ genre.
The singer said, “I am a Christian who does Afrobeats music.”
He went further to say, “You don’t go to a bank and request a Christian banker to give you money or a gospel doctor to treat you. Instead, a singer is a singer.”
Spyro didn’t stop there; he went further to mention that his faith influences his style of music, and he does predominantly ‘clean’ music.
Spyro added, “Making good music makes we welcoming across various sects because adults and children alike can listen to my music.”
