Nollywood actresses Nuella Njubigbo and Fessa Okafor have paid an emotional tribute to their late colleague Nkechi Nweje in honour of her posthumous birthday.
Nuella took to Instagram on Thursday to share a photo of the late actress, accompanied by a heartfelt message.
“Happy post humous birthday Mama, the news of your passing came as another huge shock to me , It is well, Continue resting in the bosom of God Almighty, my ever smiling mama. AMEN(SIC) ” she wrote.
While Okafor shared a video from Nkechi’s last birthday celebration with the caption:” I Choose to remember you like this. I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday, you’re so so missed. Thinking of you, especially today on your birthday, wish I could be celebrating with you. I can’t even put into words how much I’m missing you. Wishing you a happy birthday in heaven.Love you Angel.”
Nkechi Nweje died on March 21, at the age of 60 following complications from a stomach surgery she underwent in November 2024. Though she initially appeared to be recovering well, her condition later worsened, leading to her untimely death.
The actress was laid to rest on Friday, May 23, in Onitsha, Anambra State.
The funeral was attended by family, friends and colleagues, including actors Stanley Ontop and Rita Edochie, who paid tribute to her life and legacy.
