Fast-rising Nigerian singer, Shallipopi has taken to social media to express his dissatisfaction with the organisers of the 17th Headies Awards following a controversial moment during the ceremony on Sunday night in Lagos.
eelive.ng reports that the 17th Headies Awards ceremony, which held at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos, was a star-studded event that brought together celebrities from various entertainment fields.
However, the most talked-about moments of the night came when Shallipopi, a fast-rising artist, was seen walking onto the stage after being announced as the winner of the Best Rap Single category for his song ‘Cast’ featuring Odumodublvck
The “Laho” singer sadly received a handshake instead of a plaque, sparking curiosity about whether the plaques had been depleted.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, the artiste voiced his frustration, as he express his thoughts on the recognition, tweeting, “Next one if una see me, make I bend” and “I nor go even lie for una sef, I no even want the award, give the real rappers wey dey the category, me Shallipopi, I no be rapper.”
Fans reacted to the moments faulting the organizers to made such mistake after having a whole year to prepare for the event and still falling short of the plague.

The ceremony is one of the most prestigious music awards in Africa, and Shallipopi’s reaction has certainly made headlines. With notable winners including Davido, Flavor, Qing Madi, Odumodublvck, Tems, Lojay, and Rema, the event was a celebration of African music and talent.
