I Have Been There Too – Patrick Doyle Shares Experience After KWAM’s Airport Drama

Veteran Nollywood actor, Patrick Doyle, has spoken in support of Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1, after a recent incident involving airline staff from ValueJet.

The matter started when Kwam1 was reportedly stopped from boarding a flight because he was carrying a flask that allegedly contained alcohol, which is not allowed by the airline. Even after efforts to settle the issue, the singer reportedly insisted on taking the flask with him, which led to a heated argument that almost became physical with the pilot.

Reacting on Facebook, Patrick Doyle said he believes the airline staff provoked Kwam1 on purpose, which made him angry.

He shared a similar experience he once had at Asaba Airport. According to him, a check-in worker denied him from carrying his hand luggage because it was slightly above the weight limit. He said the staff spoke to him rudely even though he tried to joke with her. Doyle added that he noticed she knew who he was because her colleague had earlier taken a selfie with him.

Doyle said the worker was clearly trying to upset him so he would react angrily, which would cause a scene. He explained that such situations are common for public figures because some people in service roles already have negative feelings towards them, sometimes because of a movie role or something they said in an interview.

He added that although famous people usually enjoy special treatment, they can also be targeted by people who want to bring them down. Doyle admitted that he has lost his temper in the past, but now prays for patience when faced with such provocation.

Doyle wrote, “Most times, celebrities get special treatment in public places. On my recent trip to Accra, I was treated well by immigration officers and even supermarket cashiers. But sometimes, a worker who holds a grudge or doesn’t like me for one reason or another tries to give me problems.

“Like the lady at the Asaba airport who refused to let me carry my hand luggage onboard because it was just a little over the limit. I tried to talk nicely, but she shouted at me to respect myself. I realised she recognised me because her colleague had earlier taken a selfie with me.

I knew she was trying to provoke me”
