Actress and filmmaker, Uche Elendu has said she is not intimidated by offensive messages social media users leave on the internet. She advised, one should be cautious because there are many frustrated people on the Internet.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, Elendu stated that people who leave an intentionally annoying or offensive message on the internet do so to get attention or to upset someone or cause trouble.
“Those trolls can be very annoying but I have a thick skin, especially to things that are not important and what I’m not guilty of. If one really takes into consideration the things that people say on social media, one would get depressed.”
“There are many frustrated and depressed people out there who like to go on social media to pour their frustration on others that they think are doing better than them. Whenever I see those comments, I remember that those trolls cannot even say those things to my face. So, why bother about it? “
Show Biz; a world of Make-believe
At a time when many have criticized celebrities for misleading fans on social media, the actress noted that people often shared what they wanted others to know. She added that show business is a world of make-believe and most entertainers on social media portray what they want people to believe.
You don’t expect people to come on social media and show you that they are suffering. They would show the good side of whatever is happening to them and I don’t see anything wrong with that.
According to Uche Elendu she further stated people should focus on themselves, instead of concentrating on what others are doing on social media. If one is influenced by what one sees on social media, one would realise that life is not always as beautiful as portrayed in pictures and videos,” she said.
However, on what she had in stock for the year, Elendu said, “I would be embarking on a lot of projects in my movie career and business. It’s going to be a year of great achievements for me and I’m not looking back.”
