Nigerian rap star, Olamide Adedeji has spoken highly of his former label signee, Asake, describing him as a rare talent who came into the music scene with a different kind of sound and energy.
Speaking in a recent interview, Olamide, shared how he discovered Asake and why he decided to work with him.
The rapper revealed that from their very first meeting, he noticed Asake’s originality and work ethic.
“I did not know he was going to go that wild, but I knew Asake was one of one,” Olamide said. “From the sound and everything. I have never heard anything close to that before. His authenticity and his craftsmanship.”

Olamide further explained that one thing that impressed him about Asake was his natural drive.

“Asake is not the kind of artiste you try to convince to put in effort because he is already putting effort,” he said. “That is why I respect him so much, and I thought it would be a nice thing for us to partner.”
The YBNL boss also spoke on his leadership style, stressing that he does not put unnecessary pressure on artistes signed to his label. He said his focus has always been on encouraging them to create good music without fear of whether it will become an instant hit or not.
“Honestly, I do not put such pressure on my guys,” he said. “I just tell them to make beautiful music. If it is awesome, it is going to fly. It might not fly now, but it might fly in 10 years or even 20 years. We are still seeing that in real life. Some of my songs from 10 years ago that did not blow then are now being appreciated because good music never dies.”
