Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Dominic has recently spoken candidly about her decision to marry later in life, offering a thoughtful response to critics who have often questioned her timing.
In a reflective statement, the celebrated screen star addressed the frequent comments she received about her success and age.
According to Dominic, many people tend to measure happiness and fulfilment by a rigid timeline, suggesting that joy somehow diminishes after a certain birthday.
However, Rita firmly disagrees with that notion, stressing that life unfolds differently for each individual.

In her words: “People often say, you are successful, why did you wait so long to marry. They look at age like a chain, as if joy expires after a certain birthday. But I see life differently. I believe each person has their own clock and quiet path.I watched many marriages around me. Some were happy and gentle.
“Some were filled with regret and silent tears. Those stories taught me to be careful. I told myself, if I go into this, it must be with someone whose values and dreams line up with mine. So I married when my spirit said yes, not when society shouted time is going. That choice brought me peace. I want people, especially women, to know that a late marriage is not a failed life. A calm, safe marriage is worth waiting for.”

Rita explained that her perspective was shaped by observing marriages around her. While she witnessed unions built on love, understanding and companionship, she also saw relationships marked by regret and quiet suffering. Those experiences, she noted, encouraged her to be intentional and cautious about choosing a life partner.
