Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, Nigerian rapper, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has shared his past experience with drug abuse and how he narrowly escaped death from an overdose during his university days.
The artiste, who is widely known for his hit single Pity ”The Boy”, made the revelation while speaking on the Tea With Tay podcast. He explained that he started experimenting with illicit substances while studying at the University of Lagos.
According to him, his situation worsened when he consumed an excessive amount of the substances and almost lost his life. He said the incident forced him to call his mother, pleading with her to book a flight back to Abuja so that he could recover under the care of his family.

Odumodublvck revealed that after that experience, he only used drugs once more before deciding to quit completely.

“I was a very bright student while at the University of Lagos, but I was indulging in illicit drugs. One day, I overdosed and almost died. I had to call my mother to book a flight for me to return to Abuja. After that incident, I only took drugs once before quitting,” he recounted.
The rapper expressed gratitude for overcoming the habit, stressing that many people who get involved in drug abuse do not survive or find it difficult to recover. He noted that some individuals have lost their lives, while others lost close relatives and friends to drug addiction.
“I’m grateful because there are some people that went into that life and they didn’t make it out. Some died because of drug abuse, and some even committed suicide from overdosing. I’ve seen a pregnant woman and her husband both struggling with addiction. It’s really terrible,” he added.
Odumodublvck used the opportunity to caution young Nigerians against experimenting with hard drugs. He urged them to focus on building their lives and avoid practices that could destroy their future.
