Emmanuel Obasi, the former husband of Nollywood actress Judy Austin, has reacted to the criticism that followed his emotional interview about his children.
In a video making the rounds online, Obasi clarified that the tears he shed were not because of his ex-wife but because of the pain of being unable to maintain a close relationship with his children.
According to him, the emotional moment came from a father’s deep longing to reconnect with his kids.
He also expressed disappointment over the reactions from some Nigerians, noting that many people seemed more interested in mocking him for using a handkerchief while crying than paying attention to the message he was trying to convey.
He said: “I want to make it clear, I’m not crying for a woman. I have a wife. I’m crying for my children, which I have been trying my best to make sure I have a relationship with them
He added: “Nigerian men should be very careful. Imagine your fellow man coming out to cry that he went to see his children, and you people are busy looking at my handkerchief. What concerns my handkerchief with what I am crying about?”

Questioning the public’s response, Obasi wondered why his emotional breakdown became a subject of ridicule instead of sparking empathy for a father struggling to be part of his children’s lives.
His comments come days after a viral podcast interview in which he made several allegations about his former marriage to Judy Austin and her reported relationship with actor Yul Edochie.
