Popular Nigerian comedian, Ijoba Lande, has raised alarm that he is being blackmailed with a false video created with Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Lande, in a post shared on his Instagram page on Sunday, said an unknown person sent him a video which showed him naked in bed with a woman. He explained that the video was fake and demanded urgent action from the government to regulate the use of AI in the country.
According to him, the blackmailer threatened to release the video if he did not pay the sum of ₦5 million.

In his words, “I’m calling on the Nigerian government to act fast on the use of AI to create videos. If not regulated, it will cause a lot of damage in this country. Someone sent me a video and threatened me. In the video, I was naked and in bed with a married woman. I’m not the one in that video, but the person is threatening me and demanding ₦5 million. If you are the one behind it, just delete it. I am not the person in it.”
The comedian later revealed that the issue had become worse as the video was already being shared among his contacts and benefactors. He lamented that the circulation was affecting his reputation and livelihood because some people believed the false video.
In another post, he said, “What do you gain from ruining people’s lives? The video I complained about a few days ago is already causing me problems. They are now sending the video to my benefactors, and some of them don’t seem to believe it isn’t me. I don’t even understand how the video was made. I found out that the woman in the video is married to a senator, and several people have been sending it to me. Please, if you receive the video, delete it immediately and don’t forward it to me. The person in the video isn’t me. I’m not a kid, I would know if I was intimate with someone. And to the person who created that video, I hand you over to God.”
This is not the first time the comedian’s private life has been in the news. In March, his marriage broke down after he accused his wife, Darasimi, of infidelity with more than 20 men in the entertainment industry, including fellow actor Baba Tee.
At the time, Baba Tee admitted to a brief encounter with Darasimi during a “Truth or Dare” game, but Darasimi denied any affair, insisting she only sat on his lap.
Ijoba Lande has now urged his fans, friends, and the general public not to believe the circulating video, stressing that it is a fabricated attempt to tarnish his name.
