In a comprehensive performance review of recent major releases, South African sensation Tyla has surged ahead of her Nigerian counterparts, securing a dominant position across international streaming platforms and prestigious award categories.

Her hit single “Push 2 Start,” released on October 25, 2024, has achieved staggering numbers, boasting approximately 442.8 million Spotify streams and 190 million YouTube views.

These figures significantly outpace the latest offerings from Afrobeats icons Davido and Ayra Starr.

The competitive landscape shows a clear divide in chart performance. While Davido’s “With You” (featuring Omah Lay) peaked at number one on the local Nigeria TurnTable chart, it struggled to break into the main Billboard Hot 100, landing at #105 on the Bubbling Under chart.

In contrast, Tyla’s track successfully penetrated the Billboard Hot 100 at #88 and reached the top spot on the US Afrobeats Chart, a feat neither Davido nor Ayra Starr managed with their respective 2025 releases.

The most significant distinction appears in the 2026 Grammy Outcome. Despite “With You” and Ayra Starr’s “Gimme Dat” (featuring Wizkid) both receiving nominations, Tyla’s “Push 2 Start” emerged as the Winner.

This critical acclaim is further bolstered by international certifications, with Tyla earning Gold records in both the USA and Canada, while the Nigerian tracks have primarily found their commercial certifications limited to the domestic Nigerian market.
