Controversial social media critic Daniel Regha has once again taken aim at Afrobeats superstar Davido, accusing him of turning a generous act into a “performative” publicity stunt.
As reported by eelive.ng, Davido paid popular food influence Daddyim a visit, where he reportedly gifted the content creator and his family over ₦10 million in physical cash. Videos and photos of the moment quickly went viral, showing stacks of naira notes bundled and handed over in a nylon bag, creating a buzz across Nigerian social media.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Regha questioned Davido’s method of delivery, writing:

“So Davido couldn’t do a simple bank transfer for the food blogger Jaskoro, or just write a simple cheque? He had to carry stacks of cash in a nylon bag and show the world that he’s giving him money. Now the guy will go thru the stress of depositing the same money into the bank; Let’s not even talk about the risk involved with carrying such money around. That’s not how to help someone, it’s giving performative act.”
Supporters of Regha echoed his points, arguing that public displays like this prioritise clout over genuine assistance. Others defended Davido, noting that he can choose to give how he pleases.
Davido has a long history of high-profile generosity, often shared publicly, which has built his image as a “big giver” in the entertainment industry.
This isn’t the first time Regha has critiqued Davido’s philanthropy style as he has previously accused the singer of not knowing how to “gift privately” and questioned other public gestures.
