Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter Timi Dakolo has sparked conversations online after sharing a heartfelt message encouraging men to prioritise their well-being and not feel pressured to appear strong at all times.
In a post shared on his Instagram page, Dakolo addressed men directly, reminding them that constantly pretending to be strong despite exhaustion can take a toll on their health and happiness. The singer stressed that being tired is not a sign of weakness or laziness, but a natural part of life that should be acknowledged.
“Pretending to be strong even when you are really tired doesn’t add years to your life,” he wrote. He further noted that “strong men die too” and that life often moves on quickly, even for the people men are trying so hard to protect and provide for.

Dakolo urged men to take time to rest whenever they feel overwhelmed, emphasising that self-care should not be mistaken for idleness. “If you are tired, rest small. Tired no be laziness,” he added.
The singer’s message resonated with many social media users, who praised him for speaking openly about mental and emotional fatigue among men. Others described the post as a timely reminder in a society where men are often expected to suppress their struggles and carry heavy responsibilities without complaint.
