Former Big Brother Naija housemate Angel Smith has broken her silence following the backlash that followed viral footage of her white wedding ceremony with her partner, Tumininu.
As previously reported by eelive.ng, the ceremony, themed “all black,” was held in the United States, with close family and friends in attendance. Angel shared moments from the event via her Snapchat stories.
In the clips, Tumininu was seen wearing a two-piece black suit paired with a white shirt, black bow tie and a floral brooch. Angel, on the other hand, dazzled in a simple yet chic white strapless mini dress, styled with a veil and matching heels.
However, the video sparked mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians criticising the union.
Responding to the backlash, Angel stated that she had been openly queer long before her appearance on the reality show in 2021.

“I have been openly queer before and after I went for that show. Please never attribute my greatness to a man, he could never have made me this cool,” she wrote.
The reality star also fired back at critics who left harsh comments under her posts. When one user questioned whether she and her partner should be allowed to adopt children, Angel responded with a strongly worded clapback.
Another user expressed regret for supporting her during her time on the show, to which Angel sarcastically offered to “refund” the votes.
She further maintained that she would continue to live life on her own terms, adding that even if her current marriage ended, she would not be deterred from marrying a woman again.
