Foremost Nigerian movie actress Iyabo Ojo has opened up on why she chose to give her ex-husband a prominent role during their daughter’s wedding despite their past differences.
Speaking on The Morayo Show with Morayo Afolabi-Brown, the actress said her decision was driven by her desire to break unhealthy family patterns and secure a better future for her children.

According to Iyabo, “There’s something called ancestral curses. And we Africans believe it. Christians also. And I believe that if you do not want something to continue, you have to be able to break it.”
She revealed that both her parents were separated, and she was determined not to let the same cycle repeat itself in her children’s lives.
“Every mistake they had made, that I have made, my children will not make it,” she said.

Explaining why she set aside her personal feelings, Iyabo added, “I had to put aside what I felt, my differences, and clear her path. That’s why I said I have paid the price for her to succeed, for her to be happy in her marriage.”
She stressed that her ex-husband deserved to be present because he is still alive and remains their daughter’s father.
“Her father is not dead, he’s alive. So why can’t he be there?” she asked.

The actress also made it clear that whatever happened between them as former partners should never affect their daughter.
She added, “He didn’t wrong her. He and I fell out. That has nothing to do with her. I made the choice to marry him, right? So, whatever it is that is going on between him and me is between him and me. It shouldn’t extend to her.”
