Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo has responded to those criticising her over her recent promotional video for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

The promotional video, which surfaced last week, captured the moment the veteran actress encouraged the public to utilize FAAN’s protocol services, which she described as offering “comfort, speed, and exclusivity” for travelers navigating the airport.

What was intended as a straightforward endorsement quickly ignited a firestorm of criticism on social media, with many accusing her of hypocrisy and political inconsistency.

Some users were quick to point out what they perceived as a glaring contradiction.

Many others reminded the public of Ojo’s previous outspoken criticism of the current administration, questioning how she could now feature in a campaign promoting a government-owned agency.

Reacting to the video, one user wrote: “This video is not an indictment on APc or FAAN, it’s a shame on Iyabo Ojo to come begging for gigs from a government she worked against a few years ago. She is shameless.”

Another user commented: “If Iyabo Ōjò had integrity, she would have turned down that FAAN gig when they offered her unless she’s the one that went to look for it which still reeks of hypocrisy.”

One noted: “APC appointee, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku (@faan_md, @bunmiOnabanjo), current MD of FAAN, is among those who consider it appropriate to award gigs to a saboteurs like Iyabo Ojo.Toyin Abraham, SEYILAW, Zack Orji etc are not good enough, right? @nentawe1APC supporters are a joke right?”

One remarked: “Whoever inside  @FAAN_Official  or even in the Ministry of Aviation that brought ‘IYABO OJO’ on board for the ‘FAAN GIG’ gbogboyin mapasan Aye Ni!”

Reacting,  Ojo revealed that the promotional work was done entirely free of charge. She added that FAAN approached her, and she agreed to participate not for financial gain, but out of a genuine sense of national pride.

Ojo explained that she was genuinely inspired by the tangible improvements she witnessed at the airport, including upgraded facilities, a more efficient system, and newly constructed access roads. She stated that her motivation was purely patriotic, not political.

“I’m Nigerian. And I’m a voice. When I see progress, airports upgraded, roads rebuilt, systems improved etc, I shout it from the rooftops, if need be, not because I’m paid, not because I’m political, but because I feel it and I want good for my country,” she wrote.

The movie star declared her willingness to work across party lines for the betterment of the nation.

“I will continue to use my craft, my voice, to promote Nigeria, and I’m unapologetic about it,” she added.

“… I’ll work with any political party — as long as it’s about building a better tomorrow for our dear nation. No hate. No agenda. Just hands joined. Let’s stop dividing. Start building.”
