Falz, the rapper and lawyer, has come under heaving criticism after declaring that Fornication is not a sin—an assertion that contradicts biblical teachings and has drawn heavy backlash from religious circles.
The Nigerian rapper, whose real name is Folarin Falana, wrote in a statement on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, “Fornication is not a sin.”
The claim quickly attracted a widespread debate across social media, while some of the rapper’s fans supported the assertion, others outrightly condemned it.

One user reacted with repetition for emphasis, posting, “Fornication is a sin, FLEE! Fornication is a sin, FLEE! Fornication is a sin, FLEE ! Fornication is a sin, FLEE.”
Another wrote, “I’m shocked to see this kind of tweet from a lawyer himself. May God have mercy.”
Other critics pointed to scriptural authority. “1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body, but he that committeth Fornication sinneth against his own body. Always read your Bible,” one wrote.
Another user noted “Don’t let anyone deceive you, there is no advantage to having premarital sex. It hampers your emotional progress, physical health, spiritual closeness with God and mental health. Bed undefiled! Stay safe. FLEE!”
Despite the backlash, some defended the rapper’s perspective. One supporter wrote, “Many things are not a sin, but we’ve been misled.”
