Filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has lamented the high cost of diesel, revealing that it is affecting his businesses.
The 51-year-old filmmaker, via Instagram on Tuesday, disclosed that the fuel used to power his facilities now costs about N11 million every four to five weeks.
“I’ve been sad because I can’t cope with the N1,500 per litre of diesel. In one of the businesses we run, the KAP Village, we spend about N11m on diesel over four or five weeks. And we have solar power, but we’re still spending about N11m,” he said.
He added that his businesses have been buying diesel on credit to stay running.

“The diesel we’ve been buying, we’ve been buying on credit. When we make small money, we find a way to pay. Sometimes it takes two months to even pay down and then get another one on credit. But now from about N1,000 or N995 to N1,500, it’s not sustainable,” he said.
Afolayan appealed for support to improve his solar power setup: “If you can come to our aid, I’ll really appreciate.”
Recently, fuel prices have risen following changes by major suppliers. Petrol now costs more than N1,230 per litre, and diesel is about N1,620 per litre. These increases are affecting both businesses and individuals across the country.

KAP Film Village and Resort is in Igbojaye, Oyo State, and serves as Afolayan’s creative hub. Covering over 60 acres, it hosts film productions, training programs, and cultural events.
The village offers modern amenities and has supported projects such as the Netflix titles Aníkúlápó and Ijogbon.
