Nollywood actor Kunle Remi recently criticised the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) for how they present awards to winners, saying the process does not meet international standards.
Reacting to a video of Hollywood actor Michael B. Jordan receiving his ‘Best Actor’ trophy for ‘Sinners’ at the 2026 Oscars, Remi said that if this happened at the AMVCA, the winner would not get their award plaque right away but would have to come back for it at the next event.
In the video, Jordan looks excited as his name is engraved on the trophy right after his win. Remi, impressed by how smooth the process was, compared it to what he suggested happens at the AMVCA.
He wrote: “So happy for MBJ. Michael B Jordan watches his Oscar get engraved as people congratulate him on his win.

“So they engrave your name after you win! Right there. Take it home! If na AMVCA, all of you will share one for the night then come back and collect it at the next award.”
However, winners at the AMVCA usually receive their plaques on stage, unless they are not present at the ceremony.
