Nollywood actress and producer, Lala Akindoju has shared her emotional experience of going through motherhood and grief at the same time.
The movie star revealed that she welcomed her second child in 2024, only to lose her father a few weeks later, a period she described as “bittersweet” and one that tested her strength.
In a post on her Instagram page, Akindoju expressed gratitude to her family, friends, and colleagues for standing by her during the difficult time. She also appreciated her husband, chef Oritsegbubemi Fregene, for being her “rock” throughout the journey.
As she marked her son, Adéìyèolú’s first birthday, the actress reflected on how much her life has changed in the past year.
She wrote, “Having a child and losing my daddy weeks apart was not something I ever imagined or prepared for. But motherhood is such a divine and selfless journey because another human being depends completely on you. No matter what life throws at you, you must show up and be a mother, because this child you love so deeply needs you.

“Navigating a career, grief, breastfeeding, travelling, and raising a 4-year-old is no small thing. It truly takes a village, and I’m grateful for my village. This first birthday celebration is for all of you too.”
The actress also celebrated her son, describing him as a joyful and loving child.
“We are grateful for the gift of Adéìyèolú Monoyooritse Chioke Ayanfe. His laughter, his pout, his love for food, everything about him brings us joy.
“From being on set with me in my first and second trimesters to flying with me at just four weeks old, and still joining me at work when needed, he’s such a trooper,” she wrote.
