Afrobeats superstar, Tiwa Savage, has shared new details about the sex tape scandal that trended online in 2021.
The singer, who spoke in a fresh interview on The Breakfast Club released on Tuesday, said the leak was not an accident, but was a bet between her former partner and his friends.
Tiwa explained that at the time of the scandal, her then-boyfriend claimed that the tape got out by mistake.
He told her that he was trying to save the video but pressed the send button by accident.
“When I talked about the sex tape, that was how I tried to get through it,” the singer said. “But in hindsight, did I really deal with it? I don’t think so. I was hurt, I was a victim.”
The award-winning star noted that the situation was extremely difficult for her, especially because of her status as a public figure.
She described the period as one of the darkest moments of her life and admitted that it left her deeply wounded.
