Giorgio Armani, World-renowned Italian fashion designer, has passed away at the age of 91.
The sad news was announced by the Armani Group, the company he founded, in a statement made available to NBC News.
“With deep sorrow, the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force: Giorgio Armani,” the statement read.
According to the company, Armani died peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones. They further revealed that even in his last days, the fashion icon never stopped working and remained dedicated to his brand, its collections, and several ongoing projects.
The statement added: “Tireless, he worked until his final days, dedicating himself to the company, its collections, and the diverse and ever-evolving projects both existing and in progress.”
Giorgio Armani, who was widely celebrated as one of the greatest designers in the world, built his brand into a global empire. He was known for his classic and elegant designs, which made him a household name in fashion across continents.
His death has thrown the fashion industry into mourning, as tributes continue to pour in from colleagues, celebrities, and admirers who described him as a visionary whose work changed the face of global fashion.
