Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode, fondly called Toyo Baby, has called out social media users for turning the popular “Holy Spirit, carry me” phrase into a casual meme and entertainment tool.
The trend, which has gone viral on TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter, sees people humorously claiming the Holy Spirit is “carrying” them, a video generated from AI.
In a recent post, Olayode expressed strong disapproval, stating that while it is fine to sincerely ask for the Holy Spirit’s help and direction in life, using the sacred expression to “catch cruise” disrespects its spiritual weight. She reportedly said the overuse in jokes and skits makes her “sick” and urged Nigerians to draw a line between light-hearted content and reverence for holy things.
