Veteran Nollywood actress Stella Damasus and her ex-husband, filmmaker Daniel Ademinokan, have found themselves back in the spotlight following a resurfaced interview from 2023.
In an earlier interview, Damasus claimed she learned her marriage had ended via a YouTube video, revealing that her then-husband never directly communicated the news to her.
During her appearance on The Teju Babyface Show, Damasus shared the surprising moment she discovered her separation on social media. “A lot of things were said about me on YouTube because that is how I found out my marriage had ended. I didn’t know that my marriage had ended,” she recalled, explaining that friends had reached out to her, urging her to watch the video for clarity.

Her revelation reignited public attention surrounding the couple’s private breakup and prompted a response from Ademinokan, who had kept quiet on the matter for some time.
Speaking via a series of Instagram post, the filmmaker rejected Stella’s account, stating he had stayed silent out of respect but could no longer ignore what he called “lies.”
Ademinokan also posted a screenshot of an email he claimed to have received from Stella on July 20, 2021, in which she requested an address to send divorce papers.

He further explained that the decision to end the marriage was not made hastily but was influenced by his need to protect his mental health and, more critically, the safety of his son. In an unsettling disclosure, he alleged that his son had endured physical abuse during the marriage and had to wear makeup to school to conceal injuries
