Nollywood producer Vincent Okonkwo has recently paid heartfelt tribute to late filmmaker Dimeji Ajibola, sharing behind-the-scenes video from the set of their upcoming series, ‘‘The Covenant’‘.

In a touching Instagram post on Tuesday, Okonkwo reflected on Ajibola’s passing while showing moments from the production process. The acclaimed director died on November 3, 2024, following a battle with an undisclosed illness.

In his words, “We faced many challenges while working on this project, but the greatest of all was losing our beloved Director, Dimeji Ajibola.

“We remain deeply grateful to Dimeji for pouring his heart into The Covenant, and we hope this project becomes a blessing to his memory. Continue to rest in peace, bro.”

Ajibola, a celebrated name in Nollywood, was known for his work on titles like Hoodrush, Shanty Town, Slum King, and Ovy’s Voice. He was widely admired for his skills in animation, visual effects, and digital storytelling. Trained at the New York Film Academy and in VFX in the U.S., he also led Flipsyde Studios as CEO and Technical Director.

Okonkwo described Ajibola’s loss as the greatest challenge during the making of The Covenant, a project that has now become a tribute to the visionary filmmaker.

However, filming for the series began in early 2024, featuring a stellar cast that includes Segun Arinze, Zubby Michael, and Sola Sobowale. The project, which combines drama and high production quality, is now infused with deeper emotional meaning and is expected to premiere soon on Netflix.

Ajibola’s legacy continues to resonate through his innovative storytelling and lasting impact on the industry.
