M.I Abaga responds to WizKid’s comments on Rap says ‘Nobody has toiled for Hip Hop in Nigeria like I have’

Nigerian rapper, Jude Abaga popularly known as M.I has stated that he speaks with authority concerning Hip Hop in Nigeria because of the weight of his experiences.

M.I said this in a video which he posted on his Instagram page revealing that he struggled years to get rap to what it is now. He also acknowledged efforts of rappers like Vector, SDC, Illbliss, Ice Prince, Naeto C, Ladipoe, and others.

In his video, M.I spoke in length how rappers were given no chance and had to be successful despite thee odds. He makes it clear also that Nigerian Rap is doing just fine.

This is following the recent comment WizKid made on Hip Hop and Nigerian rappers in an interview. WizKid stated that Rap is dead in his interview with 10 Magazine UK and that rappers do the same thing using same beats and flows.

However in response to this, Oladips, a Nigerian rapper while freestyling to the beat of Kanye West’s ‘Good morning’, dissed WizKid for uttering disappointing remarks about Rap. WizKid responded to this on his Snapchat page on Friday to mock them, calling them ‘broke boys’. He wrote,

”Can’t believe broke boys really thought Big Wiz will talk abt y’all wow!
“Y’all not even rappers! Nasty C/Sarkodie/Black Sheriff the only rappers in Africa. Y’all keep sending una poppy rap videos! I go dey watch maybe I fit help una mama life!”

M.I Abaga amidst all these events had tweeted in response to WizKid’s statement. He said,


“Aq – winning. SDC – winning. Falz – winning. M – I de try. VEC – winning. Poe – winning. Odumodu- winning. Yp – winning.
“BlaqBonez – winning. Dan dizzy – winning. Ajebo hustlers – winning. Ice – winning. etc etc etc… point is that rap is on the rise!”

M.I Abaga is a Nigerian Rapper.
