A viral video circulating on social media has captured a dramatic incident in Umuahia, Abia State, where a man identified as Chief Charles Ogbonna disrupted a church night vigil over alleged noise disturbances.
The footage shows Ogbonna storming the Umuobasi Ugba Hall during the late-night service, causing panic as women, children and chairs were scattered in the process.
According to eyewitnesses in the video, his children later intervened to calm the situation and prevent further escalation. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The incident has reignited national conversations around noise pollution in residential areas, particularly involving late-night religious activities. Many Nigerians online have expressed sympathy for residents who endure sleepless nights due to loud speakers and drums from overnight church programmes. They argue that noise regulations exist but are rarely enforced, leaving affected residents with little recourse.

However, opinions remain divided. While some social media users commended Ogbonna for taking a stand against excessive noise, others criticised his actions, insisting that he should have contacted the relevant authorities rather than confronting worshippers directly.
