Marriage Isn’t a Competition: Nollywood Actress Motilola Adekunle’s Message to Women

In a recent interview with Biola Bayo, Nollywood actress Motilola Adekunle shared her thoughts on failed marriages, emphasising that no woman enters a marriage with the intention of leaving.

She stressed that when a marriage fails, nobody emerges as a winner. According to Motilola, people, especially women, often turn marriage into a competition, where being right becomes an obsession.

Motilola noted, “No woman goes into marriage with the intention of leaving. When a marriage fails, nobody wins. I don’t know how people see it as a competition. I think it is mostly women who want to make a scene out of everything. Who wants to be right about everything? There is nothing to be right about anymore.”

She also touched on her own career journey, revealing that she’s faced challenges transitioning from acting to directing. “I am a stubborn goat. I fell in love with acting when I was in SS2. My major challenge is that now, as a director, it’s harder to be an actor.”
