Military: Asake addresses latest development in his music career, issues stern warning to naysayers (Music Review)

Military is the title of Asake’s newly released single.

The single, ‘Military’ has been making the rounds across various social media platforms since it debuted on Tuesday night. The new single is coming after Asake missed out on his opportunity to bag his first-ever award at the recently concluded Grammy Awards ceremony that took place on Sunday, February 2.

Before the turn of the new year, Asake surreptitiously departed the record label, Yahoo Boy No Laptop (YBNL), which led to the official end of his professional relationship with his now-ex-mentor and record label boss, Olamide Baddo.

The cover of the newly released single

In the one-minute fifty-one-second single, Asake introduced the listeners to a groovy sound, deviating from his Amapiano roots. Asake delved into the Hip Hop and cozy R&B approach of music. As the song progressed, the song saw the infusion of saxophone, bass guitar, and a heartwarming solo that is aimed at reminding listeners that the award-winning singer-songwriter is still very much in love with music and the various elements that have always made his music beautiful.

Entering into his ‘military regime era’, Asake sends a stern warning to those who have been critical of his music career. In the opening part of the song, Asake mentioned that the majority of his critics would be unable to catch him should they decide to pursue him. He stated that he is focused on achieving his aim and objective as a person and a musician; hence, he isn’t concerned about what naysayers have to say.

Further, Asake gave a shoutout to his former label boss, Olamide Baddo, insinuating that he is still on good terms with the YBNL label executive. Asake acknowledges his prowess in the entertainment industry, dubbing him ‘Idan’ in the single.

He further added that he is one of the wealthiest musicians in the entertainment industry, and he is also the richest among his contemporaries; however, since he prefers to stay surreptitious and humble, he would rather not display his wealth for public validation.
