Miss Kenya Irene Mukii Wins Miss Africa Beauty Pageant 2019

Kenya’s Irene Mukii has been crowned Miss Africa Beauty Pageant 2019 which held Friday, December 27 in Calabar.

Mukii, who is a Mathematics and Computer Science student at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology was declared winner at the event, hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and Pearl Modi.

Beating 21 other contestants after excelling through rounds of swim suit, evening gown struts and series of questions, Irene Mukii went home with $35000 (12million Naira) and an all-expense-paid trip to Malaysia.

Miss Angola, Daniela Lopes and Miss South Africa, Ethel Maimela were named the first and second-runner up respectively.

Miss Africa Beauty Pageant kicked-off in 2016 with 18 contestants from different African countries and holds annually in Calabar.

However, the beauty pageant which hosted over 30 African Beauties and Brains across Africa with the Carnival theme; HUMANITY is part of activities to mark the Carnival Calabar festivities.

Speaking during the event, Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River called for the adoption of humanity as the greatest of all religions in the world. He said:

None of us has the luxury of knowing where he was before he was born or where he is going after death. All we know is that we live, and for today that we live, let us live for humanity.

Our perception needs to change. We must emphasise that what is greater than our colour, irrespective of the religions we believe in, is humanity.

The star-studded event saw some performance from the likes of Patoranking and Victoria Kimani. Nollywood stars, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and Enyinna Nwigwe were part of the judges for the night.
