Mohbad Trends On X As Fans Remember Singer 2 years After Passing On

Today marks two years since the untimely death of Nigerian artist Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

The news of his passing on September 12, 2023, sent shockwaves through the music industry and his fanbase and his memory continues to resonate with fans.

Two years after his death, Mohbad is trending on X (Twitter) with fans wishing him a peaceful rest and some asking if there will ever be justice.

His songs are currently gaining traction on Spotify. His music, which blended Afrobeats with personal storytelling, still connects with listeners, keeping his legacy alive in the digital space.

Following his passing, Mohbad’s music saw significant international recognition. He had three entries on the Billboard Hot Trending Songs Chart and broke into the Apple Music UK Top 20. His songs topped charts on Apple Music and Spotify in Nigeria. Notably, Mohbad became the first African artist to have five entries on the Global Shazam Chart, highlighting his growing impact on global music platforms. Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, collected the “Impact Award” at an event reportedly organized by The Headies.

His untimely death came with different controversies included allegations that Naira Marley and Sam Larry bullied Mohbad as they were however, charged to court . Social media personality VeryDarkMan (VDM) also played a role in bringing attention to aspects of the case. An auxiliary nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, was involved in Mohbad’s treatment and has been charged with gross negligence in connection with his death. Naira Marley and Sam Larry were released on conditional bail as investigations continued.

Mohbad’s body remains unburied at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) morgue. His father, Joseph Aloba, is seeking justice before proceeding with burial.
