Fresh controversy has rocked the long-running paternity dispute surrounding late Afrobeats star Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, as two of the three court-approved laboratories have declined to perform the DNA test on his embalmed remains.
The counsel to the Aloba family, Oladayo Ogungbe, revealed that Alpha Bio Labs which was chosen by the late singer’s wife Wunmi and Advanced Histopathology Laboratory Limited chosen by the court, have confirmed they lack the capacity to conduct post-mortem DNA testing on embalmed bodies. This leaves eyes on the last laboratory DNA Diagnostics Centre which Mr Aloba picked to get a feedback from the lab.

The test, ordered to determine if Mohbad is the biological father of his alleged son, Liam, was mandated on February 24, 2026, by Magistrate B.A. Sonuga at the Ikorodu Magistrate Court. The ruling aimed to ensure transparency by involving three independent labs: DNA Diagnostics Centre (Fairfield, Ohio, USA – proposed by the applicant, Mohbad’s father Joseph Aloba), Alpha Bio Labs (Warrington, UK – nominated by Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi Aloba), and Advanced Histopathology Laboratory Limited (London, UK – selected by the court via the Social Welfare Officer).
The development has stalled proceedings, with an affidavit filed to inform the court.
