National President of the Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN), Umar Maikudi, popularly known as Cashman, has been buried in his hometown in Zaria.
The filmmaker, in accordance with Islamic rites was buried on Thursday amid tears from family members, relatives and the movie family.
As earlier reported by eelive.ng, the filmmaker died on Wednesday night after a protracted illness at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika Zaria.
Confirming his demise, a relative of the deceased, Azeez Muazu, revealed that Maikudi was 62 years old.
He added that the late actor was survived by an aged sister, brothers and other relatives.

Until his death, Maikudi was an actor, producer and film director who worked in both Kannywood and Nollywood. He also served as a lecturer at Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic in Zaria.
Maikudi was elected as the National President of MOPPAN on January 18 during the association’s event in Nasarawa State
Nigerian Film Corporation mourns Maikudi’s death
The Nigerian Film Corporation(NFC), in a statement released in Jos on Thursday, described Maikudi’s death as a painful loss, adding that the country has lost one of its most dedicated and hardworking film stakeholders who remained committed to the industry until his final moments.
Ali Nuhu, managing director and chief executive of the NFC, described Maikudi’s death as a major blow, referring to him as a consummate personality who provided exemplary leadership during his time as National President of the Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN).
“Alhaji Umar Maikudi was a refined, patriotic leader who worked tirelessly to reposition MOPPAN and promote its vision. He was committed to harnessing opportunities for Nigerian filmmakers both locally and in the diaspora,” the statement read.
