Former Managing Director of TVC Entertainment and popular host of the talk show Your View, Morayo Afolabi-Brown, has joined many Nigerians in mourning the death of Arise News presenter, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, who died during an armed robbery attack in Abuja on Monday.
In a post shared on her Instagram page, Mrs Afolabi-Brown expressed sadness over the death of the young journalist.
She wrote, “I extend my deepest condolences to Somtochukwu’s family and her colleagues at Arise News. May her beautiful soul rest in peace. Amen.”

Somtochukwu, who was fondly called “Sommie” by friends and colleagues, was a news anchor, reporter, and producer with Arise News. She passed away in the early hours of Monday at the age of 29 after robbers invaded her residence in Katampe, Abuja.
Arise News, in an official statement signed by Hadiza Usman-Ajayi on behalf of the management, confirmed the tragic news.
The statement read, “We extend our deepest condolences to Sommie’s parents, siblings, extended family, friends, and loved ones at this difficult time. Sommie’s voice is now silent but her spirit, passion, and legacy will endure as part of our collective memory. We remain in shock and call for a speedy investigation, apprehension, and prosecution of the culprits.”
