Popular television host, Morayo Afolabi-Brown has urged blogs to stop misrepresenting her comments about the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
It would be recalled that in a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Afolabi-Brown admitted that some of her past criticism of the former Anambra State governor was made without adequate knowledge of his record in office.
Reflecting on her earlier remarks, she explained: “It was because I did not know him. After I made that comment, people reached out and said, ‘Morayo, do you realise that when he was governor, he actually served us?’ I said, ‘Oh, I did not know.’”
Clarifying her position, the broadcaster via her Instagram page on Wednesday stressed that her statement had been taken out of context.
According to her, the conversation with Chude was specifically about an old comment she once made suggesting that President Bola Tinubu should “step aside for six months and allow Peter Obi to be president,” after she saw Obi serving rice at public events.
She explained: “Chude asked me about that, and I said I did not know him at the time. I didn’t know that even as governor, he used to serve food at events. I wrongly assumed it was a desperate act, and I admitted I was wrong. That was all I meant, nothing more, nothing less. Please, don’t twist my words.”
