At the time, Asake was inevitable and almost unstoppable. He appeared on the Spotify list of every Nigerian, regardless of tribe, creed, ideology, or religion. The singer-songwriter was on everyone’s lips for that timeframe. Since his mainstream combustion a couple of years ago, it has almost become impossible for any other artiste to replicate the milestone attained by the self-acclaimed Mr Money.

A charismatic musician, Asake’s superstar aura is undeniable; he has since become a mainstay. He is the leader of modern music history.
He was on a roll in the first half of 2022, working with Grammy award winner, Burna Boy, before collaborating with his mentor and label boss, Olamide Baddoo. Asake didn’t stop there; he worked with renowned disc jockey and music producer, DJ Spinall, before having his single with Tiwa Savage. The album spurned several hits such as “Peace Be Unto You (PBUY)”, “Organize”. At the time, the album became the most-played single on the music streaming platform, Spotify, and peaked on several Nigerian music charts. The 30-year-old singer became an instant superstar, carving a niche for himself with the Amapiano music genre. and quickly endeared himself to the hearts of his lovers across the globe.
Yahoo Boy No Laptop (YBNL)

Being signed to Olamide Baddo’s record label, Yahoo Boy No Laptop (YBNL), helped to catapult Asake’s music career to astronomical heights. His affiliation with one of Nigeria’s finest musicians and record label executives helped him to become a superstar in his own right. Asake mounted the stage and fascinated audiences with his music; he dazzled and amused those who cared to listen without breaking a sweat.
On releasing his debut studio album in 2022, Asake has now joined the ensemble of YBNL stewards such as Fireboy, Adekunle Gold, and Lil Kesh.
It is important to note that Asake left YBNL to form his own label, Giran Republic, in the early part of 2025. He has been releasing new singles that have cryptic messages surreptitiously coded in them. Additionally, his style and approach to music have transitioned immensely in the last couple of months.

Asake made Nigerians bounce; he coerced them to jump from their seats and groove to his music. Performing at Jimmy Fallon’s show, the singer-songwriter forced caucasians to sing along to his African approach to music and style of lyrical execution.

Meanwhile, the second track off his third studio album, Lungu Boy, “MMS” (with Wizkid) broke the record for the most first-day streams on a song in Spotify Nigeria at the time.
