A Lagos State High Court in Ikeja on Friday rejected documents tendered by Nigerian singer Mr P in the ongoing trial of music executive Jude Okoye, accused of stealing over $1 million in royalties belonging to Peter and Paul Okoye of the defunct P-Square group.

Justice Rahman Oshodi upheld an objection by the prosecution, ruling that the documents did not meet admissibility standards. “I reject the documents and mark them as rejected,” Justice Oshodi stated in his brief ruling.

The documents were presented during the cross-examination of the first prosecution witness, Peter Okoye (popularly known as Mr P), by defence counsel Clement Onwuenwunor, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

Peter Okoye testified that Jude Okoye’s wife, Ifeoma, holds 800,000 shares in Northside Music Limited, the company at the centre of the allegations.

Confronted with bank statements from the company detailing various transactions, Peter maintained that the accounts related to joint P-Square business interests. “These statements of account belong to me and my brother. We are P-Square. The company belongs to Peter and Paul,” he said, adding that although Jude registered the company, it was intended for their shared venture.

He further told the court that he petitioned the EFCC after discovering alleged fund diversions and later provided a separate statement to the agency.

As reported by eelive.ng, the duo’s elder brother  and Northside Music Limited are facing a four-count charge brought by the EFCC, alleging theft of over $1 million in music royalties between 2016 and 2023. Okoye has pleaded not guilty.

The case was however adjourned to February 20 and 27, 2026, for continuation.
